Winter Reminders

To help ensure everyone’s safety and to prevent winter-related damage, please review the following reminders:

Group 68 (1)

Snow & Ice Removal

  • Snow removal for common areas will be handled by management
  • Tenants are responsible for keeping private entrances, steps, and balconies clear (if applicable to your unit)
  • Do not pile snow against buildings, vents, or near exits
  • Do not shovel snow into driveways or cleared parking areas
  • Report icy or unsafe conditions

Winter Parking

  • Move vehicles as requested for plowing or sanding
  • Invest in a shovel to remove snow directly around your vehicle. This will be necessary before a thorough plowing of the parking lot can be done with all the vehicles removed
  • Let management know if your vehicle will be parked for an extended period

Heating & Pipes

  • Keep the heat on at all times, even if you are away
  • Do not turn the heat completely off during winter
  • Keep windows closed when the outdoor temperature is at or below freezing. Briefly opening windows up to 3 inches to allow for moisture buildup to leave the apartment is fine for 10 minutes.
  • Open cabinet doors under sinks during extreme cold
  • Allow faucets to drip slightly if temperatures drop significantly
  • Report heating issues, frozen pipes, or leaks immediately

Moisture & Ventilation

  • Use bathroom and kitchen fans to reduce moisture buildup
  • Clean snow and ice from balconies to prevent water damage
  • Report ceiling leaks that can occur from ice buildup on the roof

Absences & Emergencies

  • Notify management if you will be away for several days or more
  • Ensure emergency contact information is up to date

Prompt reporting of winter issues helps prevent costly damage and keeps everyone safe. Please contact management with any concerns.
